the meaning of rock

so, in a turn of events, i have decided to start creating posts with a monthly theme. i have been thinking for a while about how i want to create more layers, or context, to my blog and have decided to explore different themes. this month it will be rocks and land formations….because that is what i am really interested in right now. i will respond in a variety of ways that move between the personal and the scientific. i find science to be fascinating because the poetry is so natural; one doesn’t have to try to find poetry in science. that is not to say that all responses will be poetic, or that they will be obviously scientific, but that i will have different responses, such as videos, links, poems, and so on. to start this off in an official way, here is a link to the national geographic gallery of rock photos. it’s awesome and then you can learn more while you’re there too.
